Can the Bed Still Function Without the Headboard and Footboard if Side Rails Are Installed?
Yes — most Icare beds function normally without headboards and footboards, and side rails remain fully operational with or without them. The only exceptions are the Gravitate G4 and G5 beds, which require both boards.
Model Breakdown
-
IC100, IC222, IC280, IC280 Petite, IC333, IC555, IC777
-
Headboards and footboards are optional.
-
Removing them does not affect bed operation.
-
-
Gravitate G6
-
Supplied with headboard and footboard.
-
They are optional to install — the bed will still function without them.
-
-
Gravitate G4 & G5
-
These models are designed to always use head and foot boards.
-
The boards are structural components that also shield the height-adjust actuators.
-
They cannot be removed without compromising safety and function.
-
Side Rails
-
Side rails are optional extras across all Icare beds.
-
They attach directly to the frame and remain fully functional with or without headboards and footboards (except on Gravitate G4/G5, where boards are mandatory).
Why You Might Leave Headboards/Footboards Off
-
Space Saving: Frees up room in tight spaces.
-
Ease of Access: Simpler transfers for some users without a footboard.
-
Style Choice: Matches existing furniture or minimalist setups.
Important Notes
-
Follow installation guidelines for safety and correct use.
-
Gravitate G4 & G5 require head and footboards for structural integrity and to protect actuators.
